Home break in's
It's that time of year again when home break in's are up.
Many reasons why. Folks are out at Christmas parties, out of town visiting family and friends, lot's of gifts under the tree and holiday packages are often left on the door step of a home no one will be at until after work.
It can happen anywhere and anytime. Here's what you can do to avoid issues:
Use common sense! If you are out of town,it really is best to have a house sitter. If that is not an option, have your neighbors come over and check on it on a regular basis. Have your snow shoveled, mail either held at the post office or have someone grab it every day. Have timers on your lights.
A dog is a very good deterrent,as is an alarm system that is hooked up.
Know your neighbors and let them know where you are going and important contact #'s. Know the cars in your neighborhood-Pay attention. If something does not look or feel right-call the police to be sure. Organize a neighborhood watch.
A lot of folks don't lock their doors-Do so NOW!!! Keep doors and windows locked-that helps.
Be safe and enjoy the holiday season.
